BIS and GBPUAT Collaborate on India's First Standardized Agriculture Demonstration Farm
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop India’s first Standardized Agriculture Demonstration Farm. This initiative aims to enhance agricultural practices, increase crop yields, and integrate Indian Standards in farming to benefit the agricultural sector.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) have signed an agreement to develop India's first Standardized Agriculture Demonstration Farm (SADF). This groundbreaking project is set to enhance crop yields and promote uniform agricultural practices.
According to an official statement released on Monday, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on July 24, marking the initial collaboration between BIS and an agricultural university in India for the creation of SADFs. "This partnership will integrate Indian Standards into agricultural practices, thus benefiting farmers and fostering agricultural innovation," stated Pramod Kumar Tiwari, Director General at BIS.
These demonstration farms will act as experimental sites for testing and implementing various agricultural methods and new technologies aligned with Indian Standards. The MoU signing ceremony was attended by M S Chauhan, Vice-Chancellor of GBPUAT, and several senior university officials, including Deepa Vinay, Registrar; Ajeet Kumar Nain, Director of Research; and Deans of various GBPUAT colleges, along with S B Singh, BIS Chair at GBPUAT.
