In a crucial meeting on Monday, Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, and other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs, registered a formal protest at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata. They expressed their concerns to the Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh over anti-India, anti-Modi, and anti-Hindu slogans defaming the Hindu Sanjeevni mantra 'Hare Krishna Hare Ram' during a rally in Bangladesh.
Taking to social media platform X, Adhikari stated, "Today I met the Deputy High Commissioner at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata, along with BJP MLAs of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Although we refrained from commenting on or interfering with Bangladesh's internal matters, we strongly registered our protest against anti-India slogans, defamatory chants targeting India's Prime Minister, and anti-Hindu slogans."
Adhikari further disclosed that video footage providing evidence of the anti-India slogans had been handed over to the Deputy High Commissioner. He demanded immediate identification and action against those responsible under Bangladesh's laws. Speaking later to the media, Adhikari criticized the West Bengal police, asserting they had tried to prevent the scheduled meeting despite written permission. He promised appropriate action against the police, terming the situation as "living under jungle rule."
