TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee on Tuesday demanded that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman release a white paper outlining the budget allocations to West Bengal. Speaking to ANI, Banerjee questioned why such crucial financial details were not disclosed, especially after the BJP's loss in Bengal in 2021.

Banerjee claimed that the central government had not allocated a single penny to Bengal for schemes such as 100 days' wage employment and housing. He also stated that over 1.1 million people eligible for housing had been left in limbo for more than a year and a half. Banerjee challenged BJP leaders to present the facts transparently, asserting that 'papers never lie.'

Highlighting a disparity in the NITI Aayog meeting, Banerjee noted that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was given far less time to speak compared to other state leaders. Criticizing the BJP further, Banerjee accused them of misleading people, neglecting Bengal in the budget, and misusing public funds for projects in other states. He warned that attempts to divide Bengal through political maneuvers would fail.
