On Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the BJP, alleging that farmers in India are ensnared in a cycle of debt due to the ruling party's policies. He asserted that the INDIA bloc seeks to liberate farmers by offering a legal guarantee of the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
His remarks followed the Telangana government's release of the second tranche of farm loan waivers. Sharing his views on social media platform X, Gandhi congratulated Telangana farmers, stating, 'Congratulations once again to the farmer brothers and sisters of Telangana. As promised in its manifesto, the Telangana Government has released the second installment of the farm loan waiver.'
Gandhi further noted that the Telangana Congress government is offering relief to 6.4 lakh farming families by waiving loans up to Rs 1.5 lakh. He contrasted this with the BJP's approach, which he claimed keeps farmers trapped in debt while denying their demand for a legal guarantee of MSP. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the Congress has been fulfilling its manifesto promises despite financial setbacks from the previous BRS administration.
