India's power consumption saw a modest increase of 3.5% in July, reaching 145.40 Billion Units (BU), as rain showers ground temperatures, reducing the need for cooling appliances.

Official data indicates that in July 2023, consumption was 140.41 BU. Furthermore, the highest supply in a single day rose to 226.63GW in July 2024 from 208.95GW in the previous year.

Despite the onset of the monsoon providing some relief from the heat, experts say power consumption and demand are likely to remain steady due to persistent high humidity, which keeps air conditioner usage high.
