Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed condolences over the deaths of eight people due to lightning strikes in four districts of the state. He announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh to each bereaved family.

On Friday, the Chief Minister took to social media platform X to convey his sorrow. He wrote, 'Sadly, 3 people died in Patna, 3 in Aurangabad, 1 in Nawada and 1 in Saran due to lightning. Instructions have been given to grant Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased without any delay.' He also appealed to residents to heed the guidelines from the Disaster Management Department to stay safe during inclement weather.

Earlier, Kumar expressed grief over seven deaths and multiple injuries from lightning strikes in Gaya and Nalanda. He reaffirmed the Rs 4 lakh ex gratia for each affected family and directed proper medical care for the injured, wishing them a speedy recovery. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of caution, referencing last month's lightning strikes that claimed 12 lives across seven districts in Bihar.
