Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy announced the commencement of the 10-day 'Mysore Chalo' padayatra on Saturday, a protest against the alleged illegal activities of the Congress-led government. Kumaraswamy stated, "We will conclude this program in Mysuru to highlight several illegal activities such as corruption and land grabbing by this government."
The JD(S) leader emphasized that the padayatra aims to educate Karnataka's citizens on how the current government came to power and began allegedly exploiting the state’s exchequer and officials. "We started this initiative to inform the people about these issues," he added.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) opposition alliance kicked off the 'Mysore Chalo' padayatra from Kengeri in Bengaluru to Mysore. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar criticized the padayatra, calling it an attempt to create an issue out of a non-issue. Meanwhile, Karnataka's Governor has issued a show-cause notice to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah following a complaint by social activist Snehamayi Krishna accusing Siddaramaiah and others of forging documents for compensation claims.
