Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed profound sorrow over the passing of classical dancer Padma Vibhushan, Dr. Yamini Krishnamurthy, on Saturday. Krishnamurthy was a virtuoso in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, reaching the pinnacle of these classical dance forms.

In his tribute, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy remarked that Yamini Krishnamurthy's unique style and exceptional talent left an indelible mark on the classical dance world. He noted that her demise represents an irreplaceable loss to the art form and a source of pride for Telugu people. Reddy also expressed his hope that her soul rests in peace. Krishnamurthy, who had been admitted to Apollo Hospital with multiple medical issues, passed away on Saturday afternoon.

A statement from Apollo Hospital confirmed her death, stating that she was under the care of a multi-disciplinary team led by Dr. Sunil Modi. Despite their best efforts, Dr. Krishnamurthy succumbed to her ailments. The hospital extended its deepest condolences to her family.

Born on December 20, 1940, Yamini Krishnamurthy was celebrated as a master of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. (ANI)
