The Congress party has urged the Indian government to inform the nation about the current political crisis in Bangladesh, secure the nation's borders, and ensure the safety of Indian citizens living there. Addressing the issue, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi emphasized the need for cooperation between state and central governments to safeguard the border and citizens.
Congress MP Karti P Chidambaram expressed concerns regarding a potential influx of refugees into India due to the turmoil. He stressed the unity of all political parties in prioritizing national security and interests.
In Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left Dhaka amid escalating unrest. Her departure was followed by looting, vandalism, and heightened security incidents including the shutdown of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for six hours.
