The city of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, is witnessing a surge in seasonal diseases and COVID-19 cases as weather conditions transition. According to health officials, 18 cases of dengue, three COVID-19 cases, and one case each of swine flu and chikungunya have been confirmed in the city.
Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Bhure Singh Setia disclosed that in the past two days, three women tested positive for COVID-19 at private hospitals. Two of these patients, initially admitted for other illnesses, were later found to have COVID-19 and are currently receiving treatment. The third patient is in isolation at home. Dr. Setia also noted the presence of 18 dengue cases and one case each of swine flu and chikungunya.
Dr. Setia attributed the rise in cases to the rainy season, which leads to waterlogging and a favorable environment for larvae. Preventive measures, including the use of drones to detect larvae and subsequent spraying of insecticides by the malaria department, are being implemented. Meanwhile, a health official from Jabalpur reported a total of 11 swine flu cases since July 11, of which nine have recovered. Health officials have urged the public to avoid crowded places, consult doctors promptly, and adhere to medical advice to curb the spread of diseases.
