Assam Cabinet Approves New Math Teacher Posts and Expands Council Constituencies

Assam's state cabinet, chaired by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, approved the creation of 1766 new graduate teacher posts for mathematics and expanded council constituencies. Additionally, 221 new recruitment posts were approved for polytechnics and engineering colleges. The meeting took place at Lok Sewa Bhawan, Guwahati.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Assam cabinet has approved the creation of 1766 new graduate teacher posts for mathematics in state schools. The decision, made during the state cabinet meeting at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati, aims to enhance the quality of mathematics education.

The cabinet also sanctioned the recruitment of 221 posts in both third and fourth grades across 11 polytechnics and two engineering colleges. These recruitments will be conducted by the respective institutions, with salaries sourced directly from the state budget, reducing reliance on outsourcing.

In addition, the cabinet has decided to raise the council constituency numbers for Moran and Matak Autonomous Councils from 22 to 27. There will also be the inclusion of 16 Bodo community-dominated villages in Sonitpur and Biswanath districts into the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
