Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh on Saturday dismissed the allegations leveled against him by ex-Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh as "wild and baseless." Singh said he had brought an alleged extortion racket against Deshmukh to the attention of then-Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and senior leaders like Sharad Pawar, but no action was taken.

During an interview with ANI, Singh stated that his complaints were made in writing back in April 2021, and were not politically motivated or influenced by any party. "The CBI conducted a preliminary inquiry, and eventually, an FIR was filed. Anil Deshmukh was arrested and charge-sheeted by both the CBI and ED," Singh said, adding that these actions validate his earlier accusations.

Singh further questioned the motives behind Deshmukh's recent allegations and reiterated his willingness to undergo a narco test, challenging Deshmukh to do the same. He also disclosed an offer from Deshmukh's son Salil, who allegedly promised to make him DGP if he withdrew his complaint. Singh criticized Deshmukh and his son, suggesting they need psychiatric help, and insisted that justice will eventually prevail.
