PM Modi Assesses Landslide-Hit Wayanad, Pledges Full Support

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to landslide-hit Wayanad, was briefed on the progress of the ongoing Search and Rescue operation, the Indian Army reported on Sunday. 'The Prime Minister was updated on the Bridging Operations by the MEG Task Force Commander,' the statement added.

Accompanied by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Governor Arif Muhammed Khan, PM Modi engaged with Indian Army rescue and relief teams at Chooralmala, the epicenter of the disaster. The Prime Minister conducted aerial and on-the-ground surveys to assess the situation, pledging central government support for ongoing relief efforts.

Highlighting his commitment, PM Modi stated that disaster management funds have been partially released and the rest will follow promptly. He interacted with injured victims and those in relief camps, reassuring them of the central government's support. Emphasizing long-term rehabilitation, Modi called for new schemes, especially for children who have lost their families, with continued cooperation between the state and central governments. The landslides on July 30 claimed over 300 lives following heavy rainfall. (ANI)
