NDRF on High Alert in Prayagraj Following Severe Flooding

NDRF remains vigilant in low-lying areas of Prayagraj due to heavy rains and flooding. Visuals reveal active monitoring by teams in vulnerable zones. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) remains vigilant around low-lying areas of Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, following heavy rain and resultant flooding on Sunday. Visuals from the city show NDRF and administration teams assessing the situation in Bakshi Bandh, Chhota Baghara, Nagvasuki Mandir, and the Sangam area.

NDRF Inspector Anil Kumar, deployed in Prayagraj for a week with a team from the 11th Battalion, reported that conditions have started to normalize. Speaking to ANI, Kumar noted, "The situation in Prayagraj has been normal for the last two days as the floodwater has been receding. However, further rainfall or release of water from dams could escalate water levels again."

The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast thundershowers and very heavy rain at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh till August 16. Earlier, on August 8, heavy rains caused the Ganga River's water levels to rise, submerging ghats and affecting local residents.

Anand, a pilgrim from Delhi, expressed his disappointment at not being able to visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple due to the heavy rains and subsequent flooding. He shared, "Rain has restricted us from going out, and the ghats are submerged. Although the river flows below the danger mark, water has entered homes in Baghada, Salori, and Rajapur areas of Varanasi." Visuals from Prayagraj show people using boats for commuting. (ANI)
