In a strongly-worded statement on Monday, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut criticized the ongoing protests outside Uddhav Thackeray's residence, claiming they were orchestrated by leaders in Delhi. According to Raut, these protestors have connections to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Raut emphasized that the demonstrations regarding the Waqf board bill were deliberately staged. “The leaders in Delhi are giving supari for such protests,” Raut stated, adding that the bill is currently with a joint parliamentary commission and hasn’t yet come up for discussion in Parliament.
Raut further alleged that some protestors were criminals linked to CM Shinde. He reiterated the claim following the attack on Thackeray’s convoy on Saturday and said Delhi leaders, specifically obliquely referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, are trying to instigate anarchy in Maharashtra ahead of the Vidhan Sabha elections. This comes after MNS workers retaliated against previous attacks by Shiv Sena (UBT) supporters on their leader Raj Thackeray.
