Minister of State Pabitra Margherita's Diplomatic Tour: Strengthening Ties in Latin America and the Caribbean

Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita will undertake his first official foreign visit, traveling to five countries from August 15 to 24, 2024. The trip includes stops in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, and Trinidad & Tobago to enhance bilateral relations and interact with Indian communities.

Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, will embark on his first official foreign visit from August 15 to 24, 2024, covering five countries. The visit includes the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, and Trinidad & Tobago.

In the Dominican Republic, Margherita will attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Luis Abinader and engage with the Indian diaspora. In Guatemala, he will hold bilateral talks with President Cesar Bernardo Arevalo de Leon and meet with Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Ramiro Martinez to discuss strengthening bilateral ties.

Margherita's visit to El Salvador will include meetings with President Nayib Bukele and Foreign Affairs Minister Alexandra Hill, along with further ministerial interactions. In Panama, he will engage in talks with Foreign Minister Javier Martinez and President Jose Raul Mulino, pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, and visit the Panama Canal. In Trinidad & Tobago, Margherita will meet with Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Minister Amery Browne and Prime Minister Keith Rowley, and interact with the Indian community.

The visit underscores India's commitment to strengthening ties with Latin American and Caribbean nations, exploring new areas of mutual interest, and fostering diplomatic and community relations.
