PM Modi Advocates for Inclusivity and Social Progress in Independence Day Speech

He highlighted government initiatives such as the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan for persons with disabilities, legislative changes for transgender rights, and the extension of paid maternity leave for women.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reinforced India’s commitment to inclusivity and social progress during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort.

Modi spotlighted several key initiatives aimed at uplifting marginalised communities, including enhancing accessibility for persons with disabilities through the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan and promoting sign language. He praised the country's Paralympians, noting their achievements as a testament to India's collective strength.

The prime minister also emphasized advances in the rights of the transgender community, citing recent legislative changes. Modi highlighted the extension of paid maternity leave from 12 to 26 weeks, describing it as a compassionate move to support working mothers and ensure better care for future citizens.
