Jammu and Kashmir Set for Tri-Phase Assembly Elections with 88 Lakh Voters

As announced on Saturday by PK Pole, Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir, approximately 88 lakh voters are expected to cast their ballots in the forthcoming Assembly elections in the region. The elections will unfold in three separate phases, and about 20 districts will participate.

In the first phase, on September 18, four districts from South Kashmir and three from Doda will vote. The second phase, set for September 23, includes six districts, while the final phase, on October 1, will host seven districts. Special arrangements, including separate queues for men, women, and the elderly, have been made at polling booths.

Additionally, 209 new polling stations have been established, and the placement of about 200 stations was revised following consultations with political parties. All polling stations will feature webcasting as per the Chief Election Commissioner's directives. The deadline for filing nominations is August 27, and counting will occur on October 4.
