Vikar Rasool Wani, the Congress candidate from the Banihal Assembly seat, expressed optimism about the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Wani stated that the Congress party is poised to lead with a significant majority, emphasizing issues such as statehood, unemployment, job security, land security, and power projects.
Wani praised Rahul Gandhi for advocating for the region's statehood and noted the deep affection the people of Jammu and Kashmir have for the Leader of the Opposition. Recalling the Bharat Jodo Yatra, he remarked on the strong turnout and support Gandhi received during his visit to the union territory.
On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi initiated the Congress' campaign for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls with two rallies, advocating for the restoration of the region's statehood and criticizing the current administrative setup. The Congress and National Conference alliance, along with support from the Samajwadi Party, aims to make a significant impact in the elections scheduled in three phases beginning September 18.
