BJP leader Manoj Tiwari on Saturday condemned Omar Abdullah's remarks on the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, calling them anti-country and against the Supreme Court's verdict. Tiwari also questioned Rahul Gandhi's stance on his ally's views in Jammu and Kashmir.
The BJP MP accused Abdullah of sympathizing with a terrorist. "Omar Abdullah's statements directly challenge the Supreme Court's verdict. Afzal was executed for planning an attack on Parliament, resulting in the loss of about a dozen security personnel. Abdullah siding with a terrorist directly opposes the Supreme Court's ruling," said Tiwari to ANI.
Tiwari urged the Supreme Court to take note of these statements, stressing that such remarks from a former Chief Minister are anti-country and anti-Supreme Court. He questioned if Rahul Gandhi had agreed with Omar Abdullah's party for these views. Abdullah, in an ANI interview, argued that executing Afzal Guru served no purpose, adding that the state government would not have permitted it.
