A history-sheeter, Raja alias Seizing Raja, was fatally shot by police in Chennai's Akkarai area on Monday morning, authorities confirmed. The police disclosed that Raja was apprehended in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday and transported to Chennai for further questioning.
According to the police, Raja was gunned down in an exchange of fire as he reportedly resisted arrest. This incident is the second police encounter in Chennai this week and the third since the killing of an accused in the murder case of BSP leader Armstrong.
On September 18, another history-sheeter, Kakka Thoppu Balaji, was similarly killed in a police encounter in the city's Viyasarpadi area. Balaji, who faced charges in 58 different cases including six murders and multiple attempts to murder, was previously shot dead by Tamil Nadu police. In July, Thiruvengadam, linked to Armstrong's murder, was also shot dead by police. (ANI)
