In a significant push for Odisha's civil aviation sector, Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu conducted a review meeting on Friday regarding the ambitious development and expansion of Bhubaneswar Airport.
Highlighting the strategic importance of Bhubaneswar, Naidu stated that efforts were underway to double the airport's capacity to 80 lakh passengers annually within a month. The upcoming infrastructure expansion includes the construction of a new terminal, with an expected completion timeline of two years. In the short term, new CAT II lighting and security reorganisation are set to enhance operational capabilities.
In addition to these expansions, Minister Naidu emphasized the significance of sustainability by participating in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, planting a tree at the airport. The recent completion of a 3360 sqm link building between Terminals T1 and T2 also promises to streamline the passenger experience by integrating domestic and international operations at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.
