Delhi Court Delivers Verdict in 2014 Attempted Murder Case

Five individuals have been convicted in a 9-year-old attempted murder case by Delhi's Saket Court. The verdict comes after thorough investigations confirmed the accused were involved in the altercation. The court found the eyewitness testimonies consistent, rejecting defense arguments about false implication and procedural lapses.

In a long-awaited judgment, Delhi's Saket Court has convicted five individuals in connection with an attempted murder case from December 31, 2014. The court's decision came nearly a decade after the night when an altercation in Saket led to the crime involving the five convicts.

Additional Sessions Judge Vishal Pahuja sentenced Karan alias Kannu, Karan alias Kalyan, Suraj, Himanshu, and Amit, finding them guilty under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. The conviction was largely based on the unwavering testimony of three eyewitnesses, including victim Pushkar Singh Nihal, reinforcing the case against the accused.

Despite objections from the defense citing inconsistencies in witness statements and procedural faults, the court maintained the strength of the prosecution's evidence. The defense had argued lack of material evidence, such as weapon recovery, but the court affirmed that the eyewitness accounts were sufficient to establish the attackers' involvement.
