Farmers Block Highway Over Paddy Procurement Delays in Punjab

Farmers from Bharti Kisan Union (Doaba) blocked NH-44 in Punjab protesting delayed paddy procurement. Led by Manjit Singh Rai, they stalled traffic on Phagwara-Nakodar and Jalandhar-Ludhiana routes, demanding immediate action from authorities. Essential traffic like ambulances continues, as officials remain on-site to manage the situation.

In a significant protest, farmers affiliated with the Bharti Kisan Union (Doaba) have taken to blocking National Highway-44 near a local sugar mill, demanding expedited procurement of their paddy produce in Punjab.

Spearheaded by Manjit Singh Rai, the farmers have brought traffic to a halt on the Phagwara-Nakodar and Jalandhar-Ludhiana routes to draw attention to their plight.

To alleviate the resultant traffic disruption, authorities diverted vehicles via Mehli-Banga-Khothran to Goraya and through Phillaur-Nurmahal for those traveling from Ludhiana. Only essential vehicles, including ambulances, are being allowed through.
