PM Modi Unveils Major Airport Developments Across India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a significant initiative to enhance air connectivity by inaugurating new airports and laying foundations for development projects in Varanasi, Agra, Darbhanga, and Bagdogra. This infrastructure boost aims to improve passenger services and create employment opportunities through strategic investments, reflecting regional heritage and culture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheaded an ambitious expansion of India's aviation infrastructure by inaugurating new airports and setting the foundation for multiple development projects across Varanasi, Agra, Darbhanga, and Bagdogra. The ceremony took place on October 20 in Varanasi, where Modi underlined the dual objective of improving passenger services and boosting employment via these landmark investments.

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Prime Minister was joined by other top officials, including Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. Dignitaries participated in person and virtually to emphasize the nationwide impact of such developments.

These projects, amounting to more than Rs 6,100 crore, aim to serve around 10 lakh passengers annually at new airports in Sarsawa, Rewa, and Ambikapur. Moreover, the initiative is anticipated to spur regional tourism, business, and educational opportunities, thereby enhancing economic prosperity in the respective states through improved air connectivity.

The new airport designs draw inspiration from local heritage, reflecting distinct cultural elements in architecture as part of the government's commitment to preserving India's diverse cultural identity. Emphasizing the long-term vision, Minister Naidu highlighted how these developments would elevate air connectivity across the country and ensure sustained economic growth and employment opportunities. The projects are part of the 'UDAN Yojana', a Regional Connectivity Scheme that strategically positions India's civil aviation industry at the forefront of global aviation progress.
