Mahakumbh Mela 2025 Witnesses Global Pilgrimage as Security Tightens Amid Record Attendance

As the Mahakumbh Mela 2025 approaches its conclusion, foreign devotees have converged from around the globe to witness the monumental event. Edward, a pilgrim from Belgium, shared his admiration for the mela, describing it as the currently "best place" in the world.
"The experience at Mahakumbh is beautiful and fantastic," Edward expressed. "The crowd and the people are so friendly. It is the best place in the world for today," he added. Another attendee from France echoed these sentiments, calling the mela a "great" place to visit.
"I traveled here from France. It is a wonderful place to be here...It's amazing what we see here... We are waiting for the Babas," the French devotee commented. In preparation for the holy bath during Maghi Purnima, the Uttar Pradesh Police have intensified security efforts amid the grand celebration.
With millions of pilgrims anticipated, authorities are ensuring a safe, seamless experience for all. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Vaibhav Krishna announced a no-vehicle zone, with only emergency transport permitted. Additional measures are in place for crowd management, allowing Kalpvasis' vehicles into the fair post-bathing.
The police have strategically planned travel routes to maintain order as the event expects over 500 million participants during two remaining bathing festivals. Remarkably, Mahakumbh achieved a milestone with 450 million attendees at Prayagraj. Significant dips occurred on January 30 and February 1, with 17 million and 25.7 million, respectively.
Prior to Magh Purnima, more than 10 million have gathered at Sangam for the sacred bath. Peak numbers included 80 million on Mauni Amavasya and 35 million on Makar Sankranti. Mahakumbh, initiated on January 13, continues until February 26, with key dates of Maghi Purnima on February 12 and Maha Shivaratri on February 26. (ANI)
