On Wednesday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla extended greetings on occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti, emphasizing the Guru's message of equality, harmony, and brotherhood meant to eradicate social evils.

‘Tributes to Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji on his birth anniversary,’ expressed Birla, highlighting Ravidas’s teachings on creating a just world. Birla stated, ‘The life and teachings of Sant Shiromani will continue to guide humanity for generations.’ This annual celebration occurs on Magh Purnima, the full moon day of the Hindu month of Magh.

Guru Sant Ravidas was a prominent 15th-century Saint, philosopher, poet, and social reformer known for his opposition to the caste system, particularly untouchability, and as a pivotal figure in the North Indian Bhakti movement.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute on the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas. In a social media post, PM Modi praised the Guru's messages filled with the spirit of service, which guide efforts for the welfare of marginalized sections.

Prime Minister Modi remarked, 'Respectful salutations to revered Saint Guru Ravidas Ji. His dedication to eradicating social discrimination continues to inspire efforts for social harmony and brotherhood.'
