India's power and energy sector is set to significantly expand its workforce, as 63% of companies plan to align with emerging trends, according to a report from TeamLease Services. This move is part of India's strategy to enhance its energy infrastructure through a Rs 9.15 lakh crore investment plan unveiled by the government.
The report highlights the Ministry of Power's aim to build a robust national power grid and ensure energy security. As India targets net-zero carbon emissions by 2070 and aims to source half of its electricity from renewables by 2030, the demand for skilled professionals is rising sharply.
Engineering and sales positions are among the most sought after, while ICT specialists and roles in renewable energy are also in high demand. The report, based on research involving over 1,300 employers across 23 industries, underscores the evolving landscape that businesses must navigate to drive growth.
