Wall Street indices rose as investors considered new inflation data and potential Russia-Ukraine peace talks. The Producer Price Index showed a 0.4% rise, slightly above expectations. Wall Street's key indices surged on Thursday, driven by fresh inflation data and the prospect of Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations. The U.S. Labor Department revealed a 0.4% increase in the Producer Price Index for final demand in January, outpacing the expected 0.3% rise.
In light of this, yields across government bonds dipped, and investors recalibrated the likelihood of the Federal Reserve pausing interest rate changes in July. Concurrently, U.S. unemployment claims fell, underscoring stability in the labor market.
Sector performances varied as Trade Desk plummeted by 31.4% after forecasting disappointing revenue, while Cisco Systems and Robinhood Markets reported strong gains. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq both recorded numerous new 52-week highs, reflecting market optimism.
