In response to a tragic death at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Odishas government has convened a high-level committee to investigate the matter. Minister Sampad Chandra Swain confirmed that the committee's findings will guide further action.
The incident has drawn significant attention, particularly from Nepali students who have protested following allegations that the deceased was harassed and the college failed to act on multiple complaints. In light of these concerns, police have already arrested a fellow student, Advik Srivastava, who remains in judicial custody.
Amidst the controversy, KIIT Additional Registrar Shyam Sundar Behura assured that Nepali students are returning and that the university is maintaining communication with concerned parents. The institution has become proactive in addressing these issues, including holding video conferences with parents and ensuring students' safety as they resume their classes.
