In a crucial gathering on Saturday, Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, and Prahlad Joshi arrived in Chandigarh for a pivotal meeting with farmers. Joining them were Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Khudian, and Minister of Food and Consumer Affairs Lal Chand Kataruchakk, aiming to resolve ongoing agricultural disputes.
Farmer Leader Jagjit Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike since November 26, was present at the meeting, transported through an ambulance. Harpal Singh Cheema expressed optimism about reaching a resolution, highlighting the importance of cooperation between the central government and Punjab officials to meet farmers' demands.
The farmers' primary concerns include obtaining a legal guarantee for minimum support prices (MSP). Meanwhile, Union Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan reassured MSP support for key crops, emphasizing the government's enduring commitment to fair pricing and increased Kisan Credit limits, reflecting efforts to strengthen agricultural welfare.
