In a dramatic rescue operation early Thursday morning, the Indian Coast Guard and Navy saved 18 crew members from a fishing boat that had caught fire near Akshi, Alibaug in the Raigad district.

The incident occurred around 3-4 am, approximately 6-7 nautical miles offshore. Responding promptly to the distress signal, the Coast Guard swiftly evacuated the crew from the flaming vessel.

As confirmed by the Raigad SP, Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) SavitriBai Phule, which was on patrol, participated actively in the rescue. The crew members safely transferred to another boat in the vicinity, with firefighting operations still ongoing.
