ED Raids Shake Chhattisgarh: Alleged Multi-Crore Liquor Scam Unveiled

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided multiple locations in Chhattisgarh, including properties linked to former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, amid an investigation into a multi-crore liquor scam. Deputy CM Arun Sao highlighted the ongoing nature of the probe. The raids are part of a broader investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering.

In a dramatic development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched sweeping raids across Chhattisgarh, targeting the residence of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel among others. This comes in connection with a high-profile probe into a multi-crore liquor scam that has sent shockwaves through the political landscape.

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao emphasized the sustained nature of the ED's scrutiny, asserting, “How can one deny that there have been big scams during the tenure of Bhupesh Baghel?” He further noted that the investigation has been ongoing and is not an abrupt measure.

According to sources, the current raids span 14 locations statewide, primarily focusing on alleged irregularities in the liquor trade involving unlawful commissions and money laundering activities. Reportedly, Chaitanya Baghel, son of Bhupesh Baghel, is also implicated as a recipient of illicit gains totaling approximately Rs 2,161 crore.
