In the wake of an uproar over police actions during post-victory celebrations in Dewas, BJP MLA Gayatri Raje Puar has brought the issue to the state assembly's forefront. She criticized the police for parading youths with shaved heads, describing the response as an overreaction to a communal celebration that involved people without criminal histories.
Speaking to ANI, MLA Puar emphasized her discussions with the Superintendent of Police, demanding an immediate inquiry. 'The actions by the police were excessive,' Puar stated. 'The youths involved aren't criminals, and such methods were unnecessary. I've requested their swift release and assured them that the investigation will address the officials involved.'
The Superintendent of Police, Puneet Gehlot, acknowledged the controversy, citing a viral video that captured the police's harsh measures. He announced a seven-day inquiry led by Additional SP. 'All aspects of the incident, including allegations from local traders, will be thoroughly investigated. Any officer found culpable will face consequences,' Gehlot assured, signaling a commitment to transparency.
