Karnataka has exceeded its energy conservation target of 744 million kWh, achieving over 800 million kWh savings ahead of the 2027 deadline, officials reported on Tuesday.
The announcement was made during the Second Stakeholder Workshop for implementing the state's Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Policy 2022-27. K P Rudrappaiah, Managing Director of KREDL, highlighted the sector-specific targets that led to surpassing the goal.
Under Energy Minister K J George, Karnataka is pioneering clean energy production, with plans for annual energy reports advised by WRI India, a key think tank. Collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and WRI India has been essential to developing comprehensive energy action plans, according to Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited.
