Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday applauded the decision of two Hurriyat-affiliated organizations to distance themselves from separatism in Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as a 'significant victory' for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a united and peaceful India. He made these remarks following the announcement that the organizations would sever their ties with separatism.
In a statement on his 'X' handle, Shah declared, 'Separatism has become history in Kashmir. The Modi government's unifying policies have eliminated separatism in J&K. Two Hurriyat-associated organizations have cut all ties with separatism.' He welcomed this advancement as a step towards bolstering national unity and encouraged other groups to renounce separatism.
This decision by the Hurriyat-linked groups is seen as indicative of the evolving political dynamics in the Union Territory. The government has been implementing measures such as stringent enforcement of anti-terror laws and socio-economic reforms to curb separatist activities. Officials view this as a pivotal shift in Jammu and Kashmir's politics, heralding greater integration and peace.
