The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a show cause notice to Air India's Accountable Manager for breaching flight time regulations. The notice highlights that two flights from Bangalore to London on May 16 and 17 exceeded the 10-hour flight time limit, contravening Civil Aviation Requirements.
The DGCA has demanded an explanation from Air India within seven days, threatening enforcement action per Aircraft Rules if no response is received. The notice points out lapses in compliance, warning that failure to reply may result in ex parte decisions based on current evidence.
In addition, the DGCA targeted three Air India officials on the rostering team, ordering their removal due to repeated violations. Air India has complied, stating the company's COO will oversee the Operations Control Centre to ensure safety protocols are strictly followed.
