Maharashtra Unveils Mega Fund Allocation for Infrastructure and Social Welfare

The Maharashtra government has proposed supplementary demands of Rs 57,509.71 crore to the state assembly. The funds are earmarked for infrastructure projects and social welfare schemes, including metro rail, health, education, and cooperative ventures. This initiative aims at comprehensive regional development with a net impact of Rs 40,644.69 crore.

The Maharashtra government has announced supplementary demands amounting to Rs 57,509.71 crore in the state legislative assembly. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar presented these demands on the first day of the assembly's three-week monsoon session.

Primarily aimed at infrastructure and social welfare, the funds will be used for roads, metro rail, irrigation schemes, and planning the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Significant allocations include Rs 11,042.76 crore for recommendations by the 15th Finance Commission and Rs 6,952 crore for public health. Additionally, funds are provisioned for other social welfare schemes.

Despite the gross demand, the net financial burden on the state's budget is Rs 40,644.69 crore. The government is also supporting cooperative sugar factories with margin money loans, reflecting a commitment to widespread developmental assistance.
