Telangana on High Alert: IMD Predicts Heavy Rains and Thunderstorms

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for light to moderate rains accompanied by thundershowers across parts of Telangana on Thursday. Strong surface winds are expected to add to the intensity of the showers.

In a statement to ANI, Hyderabad Meteorologist Srinivas Rao highlighted that the monsoon's onset has progressed into India, affecting regions such as Rajasthan and Delhi. Northern Telangana has already experienced heavy rainfall for two consecutive days, with similar weather expected on July 2, affecting 13 districts in the region. Hyderabad is predicted to see light to moderate rains over the next two days.

The IMD's bulletin forecasts continued light to moderate rainfall for Telangana between July 3-6, with thunderstorms likely at isolated locations alongside strong winds of 30-40 kmph. Thunderstorm and lightning warnings have been issued for multiple districts, including Adilabad, Hyderabad, and Rangareddy. Additional districts like Nalgonda and Mahabubabad are also under alert for July 5-6. Residents are advised to remain cautious, particularly during thunderstorms.

The IMD has urged local authorities to maintain vigilance, especially in vulnerable and low-lying areas. The approach of the southwest monsoon has intensified rainfall across Telangana, promising more downpours in the days ahead.
