Singareni Creates First-Ever All-Women Mine Rescue Team

Singareni Collieries Company Limited has formed its first 13-member all-women rescue team. This historic team completed specialized training to handle mining emergencies, expanding opportunities for women as per 2019 government guidelines. SCCL plans to increase the team to 35 members by 2025.

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has made history by forming its first all-women mine rescue team, consisting of 13 members, who have recently completed their specialized training in rescue operations. This marks a significant step in the inclusion of women in the mining sector.

The women rescue team, trained to operate in both underground and open cast mines, will handle emergencies such as toxic atmospheres and other critical situations. SCCL aims to expand this team to 35 members by December 2025, reflecting the company's commitment to gender inclusion in critical roles.

SCCL CMD N Balram emphasized the importance of the rescue team's role during emergencies and highlighted ongoing efforts to provide specialized training. By December 2025, SCCL plans to have a full-fledged 35-member all-women rescue team, trained and ready for any situation.
