Ajit Pawar Vows Justice in 2006 Mumbai Blasts Amid Political Tensions

Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, has assured the public that political pressure will not influence the investigation into the 2006 Mumbai train blasts. His statement follows the Supreme Court's decision to halt the Bombay High Court's acquittal of 12 accused individuals. Pawar emphasized the state's commitment to thoroughly examining the case and suggested the potential application of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Pawar asserted that he has ordered the judiciary to conduct its proceedings without political interference. Acknowledging his recent appointment, he expressed confidence in a just outcome, highlighting the government's concern for its image while emphasizing that justice must prevail. On a related note, he mentioned awaiting a discussion with Devendra Fadnavis upon his return from Delhi.

In another development, Pawar addressed the controversy involving Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate and promised to meet him to ascertain the details. A video from the Maharashtra Assembly involving Kokate led to investigative orders by Speaker Rahul Narwekar and Minister Ram Shinde. Highlighting previous Assembly disruptions, Pawar reiterated the directive to maintain decorum. Meanwhile, responding to allegations concerning a pen drive with sensitive content, he challenged the opposition to publicly disclose it, stating that the matter involving four ministers will be diligently investigated. He also touched on the Marathi and Hindi language issue, urging respect for Marathi in line with the state's cultural heritage.
