Congress Leaders Absent in Lok Sabha Debate on Operation Sindoor

Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tewari will not participate in the Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor against cross-border terrorism. Although Tewari requested to speak, Tharoor showed reluctance as his views contradict the party’s stance. Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders will represent the party instead.

In a significant political development, Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tewari, previously part of the Indian delegations to emphasize its position against cross-border terrorism, will not be among Congress speakers in the Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, insiders revealed.

It was disclosed that Tewari had expressed his desire to participate in the debate, while Tharoor seemed disinclined, possibly due to conflicting views with the party's firm opposition to the government's handling of military action regarding targets in Pakistan and PoJK.

Rahul Gandhi, as the Leader of Opposition, is expected to present the Congress viewpoint during the 16-hour debate. Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted Operation Sindoor as a pivotal moment in combating cross-border terrorism and dismissed claims of third-party involvement in Indo-Pak tensions.
