The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has taken significant strides in its crusade against terrorism by arresting a 30-year-old woman from Bengaluru with alleged connections to Al Qaeda. The suspect, Sama Parveen, was apprehended, marking a critical development in a broader investigation.
According to Deputy Inspector General of Police Sunil Joshi, Parveen's arrest ensued shortly after the ATS had detained four other individuals on July 23 for their purported links to Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). The suspects, identified as Mohd Faiq, Mohd Fardeen, Sefullah Kureshi, and Zeeshan Ali, were rounded up from various locations including Delhi, Ahmedabad, Aravalli, and Noida.
DIG Sunil Joshi confirmed that all five suspects had been under close surveillance due to activities suspected to be connected to AQIS, reflecting a well-coordinated operation driven by precise intelligence inputs. The investigation is ongoing as authorities await further details.
