Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage at the Kakori Shaheed Memorial, commemorating the centenary of the Kakori Train Action, a historic event in India's independence struggle. The event, observed on Friday, was attended by Deputy CM KP Maurya and State Minister Jaiveer Singh. CM Yogi also celebrated Raksha Bandhan with children and planted a tree sapling in honor of the freedom fighters.
The Kakori Train Action, historically referred to as the Kakori Conspiracy, was a pivotal train robbery executed on August 9, 1925, by the Hindustan Republican Association against British colonial forces. This act of defiance led to the arrest and eventual execution or severe punishment of over 40 individuals. In 2021, the Uttar Pradesh government, under CM Yogi's leadership, officially renamed the incident to 'Kakori Train Action,' emphasizing respect for the participants' role in the independence movement.
Earlier, in Bahjoi, Sambhal district, CM Yogi inaugurated development initiatives worth Rs 659 crore, emphasizing the restoration of 68 pilgrimage sites and 19 wells in Sambhal. This restoration aligns the area's development with its spiritual heritage, countering past destruction by invaders. CM Yogi reiterated a commitment to preserving Hindu traditions and warned against those seeking to tarnish this legacy with controversy, affirming a sustained effort to fulfill the region's cultural aspirations.
