An improvised explosive device (IED) blast has claimed the life of one jawan and injured two others in the National Park area of Bijapur district on Monday, as confirmed by a police official. The incident unfolded during an anti-Maoist operation led by the District Reserve Guard (DRG).
IG Bastar P Sundarraj reported that DRG jawan Dinesh Nag was killed, while three personnel were injured but remain stable and out of immediate danger. They received first aid and are being evacuated for further medical treatment. Detailed information will emerge following the operation's conclusion.
This event follows a recent crackdown where security forces neutralized two prominent Naxal leaders in Chhattisgarh. Vijay Reddy and Lokesh Salame, carrying bounties in lakhs, were eliminated in a coordinated effort by Chhattisgarh Police, DRG, and ITBP. This marks a significant setback for Naxal operations in the insurgency-hit regions.
