Monsoon Fury: Himachal Pradesh Faces Devastating Natural Disasters

Himachal Pradesh has been struck by monsoon-induced disasters, resulting in 276 fatalities since June. Landslides, floods, and road accidents have caused severe damage to lives and infrastructure. The state estimates a loss of over Rs 2,211 crore, with restoration efforts ongoing but hindered by persistent rainfall.

The monsoon has unleashed widespread devastation across Himachal Pradesh, claiming 276 lives since June 20, as reported by the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority on Tuesday.

Among the deceased, 143 perished due to rain-induced calamities like landslides and flash floods, while 133 died in road accidents exacerbated by persistent rainy conditions.

The state has faced an estimated economic loss exceeding Rs 2,21,000 lakh, with damages affecting public and private property, agriculture, and infrastructure. Mandi, Kangra, Kullu, and Shimla districts have seen the worst impact, with Mandi reporting 26 rain-related and 21 road accident deaths.

Natural disaster fatalities in Kangra reached 29, while Chamba recorded 13 disaster-related deaths. Infrastructure across the state has suffered severely, further complicating life for residents.

As authorities conduct restoration efforts amid continuing adverse weather, they have urged citizens to exercise caution, especially in vulnerable terrains.
