The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of forcing sanitation workers and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus drivers to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. AAP's Delhi chief, Saurabh Bharadwaj, claimed on Wednesday that workers were pressured to reach Thyagaraj Stadium for the event under threat of consequences.
Bharadwaj, sharing his concerns on an online post, stated that four sanitation workers from each cleaning beat were summoned without support for transport, leaving individuals to arrange their own means of reaching the venue. Meanwhile, DTC drivers were reportedly called upon in large numbers for the occasion, raising concerns over coercive practices by the BJP.
The AAP leader further suggested that public participation in the celebrations was not voluntary, saying the BJP is facing public anger, as people are not willing to attend even landmark events like the Prime Minister's birthday. These allegations surfaced alongside visuals of cultural programs from India Gate, where other political figures gather to honor the Prime Minister with the announcement of new schemes for Delhi's citizens.
