A bomb threat email sent to Chennai Airport management caused a significant security response after midnight on Thursday. The email warned of bombs in airport garbage bins, leading to immediate action.
Airport officials triggered an emergency meeting, involving senior authorities, BCAS officials, CISF officers, airline representatives, and police. They launched a comprehensive security sweep of the airport.
Throughout the night, bomb squads and sniffer dogs scoured the premises, inspecting vehicles, passenger baggage, and garbage bins. By dawn, no explosives were found. Deemed a hoax, the incident spurred police to investigate the source, although it caused considerable disruption.
