Ukrainian Drone Strikes Spark Fire at Russian Tuapse Refinery

The Tuapse oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar region, controlled by Rosneft, was attacked by Ukrainian drones, igniting a fire quickly extinguished. This attack is part of Ukraine's counter-response to Russian energy infrastructure assaults. Russia's military claims to have destroyed 251 Ukrainian drones, including those targeting the southwest and Moscow.

The Tuapse oil refinery, located in Russia's southern Krasnodar region and under Rosneft control, suffered an overnight drone attack by Ukraine, leading to a fire in a security building. The fire was extinguished rapidly, regional authorities reported on Monday.

Ukraine's decision to increase drone assaults on Russia's oil facilities stems from alleged retaliations against persistent Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. The Russian military announced the overnight destruction of 251 Ukrainian drones, with the majority intercepted over the southwest and 61 over the Black Sea waters.

Debris from the attack, which occurred on October 6, landed on the Tuapse refinery grounds. Local officials confirmed via Telegram that two individuals were hospitalized following injuries from the incident. The refinery, with an extensive processing capability of 240,000 bpd, primarily exports to nations including China, Malaysia, and Turkey.
