Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha paid a solemn tribute to the state's brave police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty during the Police Commemoration Day ceremonies held at the Manoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium. Expressing deep respect and gratitude, the Chief Minister acknowledged the cops' ultimate sacrifice in upholding law and order, while ensuring the citizens' security.
The solemn event gathered senior police officers and personnel from across the state to honor the courage, dedication, and selfless service of their fallen comrades. Saha applauded the unwavering efforts of the Tripura Police in maintaining peace and security across the region and assured the government's continued commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their families.
Recognized annually on October 21, Police Commemoration Day remembers the supreme sacrifice of ten brave policemen ambushed by the Chinese Army at Hot Springs, Ladakh, on October 21, 1959. Their memory was honored by a resolution at the DGsP/IGsP Conference in 1962 to observe this day as a commemoration across all police forces in India.
Earlier in the day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the importance of unity between the Army and police forces in safeguarding the nation. Speaking at the Police Commemoration Day event at the National Police Memorial, Singh emphasized the shared spirit both forces exhibit in ensuring the country's safety, drawing from his experiences as both a former Home Minister and current Defence Minister.
"I have had the opportunity to observe the functions of the police at close quarters during my tenure as Home Minister. Similarly, as Defence Minister, I have closely followed the Army's actions. Both the Army and police epitomize the pillars of India's security. Whether the threat comes from across the border or within our territory, every person defending the nation's security embodies the same indomitable spirit," Rajnath Singh articulated during the occasion. Police Commemoration Day serves as a nationwide observance to commemorate these bravehearts, with the principal event held at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi. (ANI)
